 Lunch Money at Symphony Space
Fresh Sounds Showcase: Lunch Money
All Tickets Are Just $10 for This All-Ages Kindie Rock Concert, Which Also Celebrates New York Cares' Childhood Nutrition Programs.  Smithsonian Folkways Artist Elizabeth Mitchell Makes a Guest Appearance

"Artfully treads the line between alt-kids and just plain alternative.” – Nick Jr. magazine

"They put an entirely new spin on subjects familiar to kids, such as libraries, zoos and balloons.... their hook-filled melodies and indie-pop arrangements will have a familiar appeal to adults." -- National Public Radio - "All Things Considered"
The second in the “Fresh Sounds Showcase" series brings Lunch Money, a South Carolina based indie rock band, to Symphony Space. Band leader Molly Ledford’s songs offer an energetic salute to the stuff of childhood: roller coasters, giant cookies and getting dizzy as you twirl under an umbrella. Lunch Money's debut Symphony Space concert celebrates the release of a new CD: Original Friend, recently featured in USA Today's roundup of the best new music for kids. Molly's distinct voice has been described as "a cross between Edie Brickell and Natalie Merchant."
As a special treat, Smithsonian Folkways artist Elizabeth Mitchell will make a guest appearance for some songs. Clearly, this will be a show for music-loving parents to enjoy along with the kids!

This yummy Lunch Money concert also celebrates the work of New York Cares in helping NYC kids learn about good nutrition and healthy lifestyles. A block of tickets will be donated to kids and adults involved in the organization's "Snactivities" and other programs. New York Cares runs volunteer programs that meet critical needs at 1,000 nonprofits, public schools and city agencies across the five boroughs. Each year, 53,000 caring New Yorkers throughout the city make a difference in the lives of over 400,000 fellow New Yorkers who need it the most.
